Islamabad – Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has issued a stern warning to India, stating that any attempt by New Delhi to build structures aimed at diverting or blocking water would be treated as an act of aggression and met with a forceful response.
Speaking on Geo News’ current affairs program Naya Pakistan, Asif declared that if India constructs any such infrastructure, “Pakistan will destroy it.” He emphasized that the violation of the Indus Waters Treaty would not be taken lightly and would amount to a declaration of war.

“The Indus Waters Treaty is not easy to violate. If India dares to breach it, Pakistan will consider it an open act of war and respond by targeting the structure involved,” the defence minister said.
Commenting on India’s accusations related to the Pahalgam incident, Asif said New Delhi has failed to provide any credible evidence. “India is now trapped in its own narrative,” he remarked.
He also noted that the U.S. Vice President has provided India with an opportunity for face-saving amid rising regional tensions. However, Asif warned, “If India tries to exploit this for any misadventure, we will respond in a manner that will humiliate them.”
Tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors remain high, with the Indus Waters Treaty—a World Bank-brokered agreement from 1960—once again under the spotlight.
