China promises stronger ties with Pakistan

China has once again reaffirmed its strong support for Pakistan, calling the country its “most reliable partner and staunchest supporter” no matter how global politics may change. The statement came from the Chinese foreign ministry on Friday during the official visit of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Islamabad.

The ministry’s spokesperson shared a message on X, highlighting that the friendship between China and Pakistan is unshakable and time-tested. He stressed that the bond between the two nations remains firm, despite any international shifts.

During his visit to Pakistan from August 20 to 22, 2025, Foreign Minister Wang Yi held key meetings with top Pakistani leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal General Asim Munir, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

The visit was part of the sixth round of the China–Pakistan Foreign Ministers’ Strategic Dialogue. The discussions mainly focused on the second phase of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC 2.0), boosting trade and investment, strengthening defence and security cooperation, and ensuring regional peace and stability.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to take CPEC forward as a flagship project of regional connectivity and development, while also enhancing cooperation in multiple sectors to further deepen the all-weather strategic partnership.
