Rapper Lil Nas X has been released on bail after pleading not guilty to several felony charges in Los Angeles. The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Montero Hill, spent the weekend in custody before appearing in court on Monday, August 25.
According to police, the “Industry Baby” singer was arrested early Thursday, August 21, on Ventura Boulevard after officers responded to reports of a man nude in the street. Authorities say Lil Nas X resisted arrest and injured an officer during the incident. The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has charged him with three counts of battery with injury on a police officer, one count of resisting an executive officer, and one misdemeanor.

During his court appearance, Lil Nas X entered a not guilty plea. He was later released after posting $75,000 bail. As part of his bail conditions, the court ordered him to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings each week. Police said he appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest, though his attorney explained that test results are still pending.
His defense team has strongly defended him, saying this case does not reflect who he is. Attorney Christy O’Connor described the incident as an “aberration” in his life, while attorney Drew Findling reminded the public that the rapper has no prior criminal record. Findling added that the pressures of global fame can weigh heavily on young stars and stressed that one incident should not define his career.
Lil Nas X is scheduled to return to court on September 15 for a preliminary hearing. If convicted, he could face up to five years in state prison, prosecutors said.
The Grammy-winning rapper rose to international fame with his hit “Old Town Road” and has since become one of the most talked-about figures in music. His fans and supporters now await the outcome of the case, as his legal team works to protect both his freedom and his career.
