Earthquake Hits Parts of Pakistan

A moderate earthquake jolted several parts of Pakistan in the early hours of Monday, causing panic among residents who rushed out of their homes and buildings.

According to the seismic monitoring centre, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4. Tremors were felt in Islamabad and different parts of Punjab, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Kharian, Chakwal, Daska, and Gujar Khan. People in Kallar Kahar, Khanqah Dogran, Phalia, Sarai Alamgir, Choha Saidan Shah, Kallar Syedan, and Safdarabad also reported strong shaking.

The quake was widely felt across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well. Areas including Peshawar, Charsadda, Swat, Dir, Buner, Kohat, Mardan, Mansehra, Battagram, Torghar, Hangu, Nowshera, and North Waziristan experienced the shocks. Residents of Khyber, Landi Kotal, and Miranshah also confirmed tremors.

In Azad Kashmir, Mirpur and nearby towns were shaken, while parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, including Ghizer, also felt the earthquake.

Although the tremors created fear and forced many people outdoors, no immediate reports of loss of life or property damage have been received so far.

Pakistan is located in a seismically active zone where earthquakes occur frequently, especially in northern areas. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious and follow safety measures in case of aftershocks.
