ECP Delays Punjab By-Elections in 9 Constituencies Due to Floods

Because of the current flood situation in Punjab, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has decided to postpone the by-elections in nine National and Punjab Assembly constituencies.

The notification states that four Punjab Assembly constituencies and five National Assembly constituencies are impacted. In response to a request from the Punjab government, the decision was taken.

Polling has been delayed in the following National Assembly constituencies: NA-66 Wazirabad, NA-96 Faisalabad-II, NA-104 Faisalabad, NA-129 Lahore, and NA-143 Sahiwal.

In the Punjab Assembly constituencies of PP-73 Sargodha, PP-88 Mianwali, PP-98 Faisalabad, and PP-203 Sahiwal, by-elections have also been postponed.

The polling was originally planned for September 18 and October 5, according to the electoral watchdog. Later on, a revised schedule for the by-elections in these constituencies will be released.
