Karachi – The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), intensifying its action against tax evaders, has registered an FIR against internationally renowned fashion designer Naomi Ansari for a sales tax fraud of Rs 1.25 billion.
According to private TV Aaj News, the Corporate Tax Office Karachi has registered an FIR against Naomi Ansari for a sales tax fraud of Rs 1.25 billion. According to sources, Naomi Ansari is likely to be arrested upon her return from abroad. After being arrested, the accused will be presented before the Customs and Taxation Court.
The sources further said that the Corporate Tax Office Karachi, a subsidiary of the FBR, took action after completing its work on receiving information about tax evasion and based on the evidence found in its initial investigation.

After obtaining search warrants from the magistrate, the authorities raided Naomi Ansari’s factory and important outlets located in different areas of the city, Mehran Town, Korangi and DHA, and seized the records. It should be noted that this is not the first action against Naomi Ansari.
Earlier, in February this year, the CTO Karachi sealed her factory and various outlets for violations of sales tax regulations and failure to comply with the point of sale integration rules.
The Corporate Tax Office Karachi had raided Naomi Ansari’s factory and important outlets located in different areas of the city, Mehran Town, Korangi and DHA, after obtaining search warrants from the magistrate.
Now, a tax demand order has also been passed against the fashion designer.
In this regard, FBR officials say that actions are being taken by the country’s field formations in light of the instructions issued regarding enforcement.
