Tom Cruise Steals the Show at Cannes with Dazzling

Tom Cruise brought Hollywood spectacle to the French Riviera on Wednesday, making a grand entrance at the Cannes Film Festival for the premiere of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Greeted by a live orchestra playing the iconic theme song, Cruise lit up the red carpet in what may be his final outing as Ethan Hunt.

Cruise, 62, was visibly moved by the fanfare, mouthing “wow” and “bravo” as the music played and waving to devoted fans who had braved the blazing Riviera sun for a glimpse of the action legend. The scene was a fitting tribute to a franchise that has defined modern action cinema for nearly three decades.

Joined by co-stars Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Greg Tarzan Davis, Angela Bassett, Esai Morales, and Hannah Waddingham, Cruise posed for photos and exchanged smiles and selfies before entering the iconic Grand Lumière Theatre. Celebrities including Zoe Saldana, Eva Longoria, Andie MacDowell, and Cannes jury member Halle Berry were also spotted among the high-wattage crowd.

Directed by longtime collaborator Christopher McQuarrie, the film is set to hit U.S. theaters on May 23, with a reported $400 million budget making it one of the year’s biggest cinematic gambles—and hopes. As theaters continue to recover from the pandemic-era slump, The Final Reckoning is one of several blockbusters expected to reignite the global box office.

Cruise’s potential farewell to the franchise adds emotional weight to the film, making its Cannes debut a memorable and possibly historic moment in the actor’s storied career.
