Hamas has urged the United Nations and the wider international community to step in immediately as Israeli forces intensify their bombardment of Gaza, leaving dozens dead and worsening what residents describe as an “apocalyptic” situation.
Health officials in Gaza confirmed at least 73 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday, including 43 in Gaza City. Entire families perished as airstrikes and grenades hit homes, schools, and crowded shelters. “My brother was killed inside his room with his wife and children; they erased them all,” said Sabreen al-Mabhuh, one of the displaced survivors.

According to Gaza’s media office, Israel has used more than 100 explosive-laden robots in Gaza City over the past three weeks, leveling neighborhoods and pushing the death toll in the city alone to over 1,100 since mid-August.
The humanitarian situation continues to worsen. Gaza’s Health Ministry said six more people, including children, died from hunger within the last 24 hours, bringing famine-related deaths to 367. UNICEF has warned that more than 132,000 children under five could die from severe malnutrition by 2026 if the blockade and aid restrictions persist.
Aid groups report that famine has already taken hold in northern Gaza and is rapidly spreading south. Families are struggling daily to find food, water, and shelter as bombardments drive thousands more from their homes. UN officials confirmed that more than 82,000 people were newly displaced in just two weeks, warning that as many as one million could be uprooted if Israeli operations continue in Gaza City.

Despite these warnings, Israel has rejected Hamas’s latest ceasefire offer, insisting that the war will only end under Israeli cabinet terms, which include the release of captives and Hamas’s disarmament. Hamas, however, says disarmament will not happen unless a Palestinian state is recognized under a two-state solution. Mediators in Qatar revealed that Israel has yet to respond to a truce proposal Hamas accepted last month.
As the violence drags on, international pressure for a ceasefire is growing, but prospects for peace remain uncertain. For Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, many displaced multiple times, daily survival now depends on dwindling resources amid relentless airstrikes and an expanding famine.
