More than 1,000 Afghan nationals were sent back to Afghanistan from Rawalpindi, police sources said. The deportations happened over the past week through the Torkham border.
Before being sent back, they were kept in a camp where their documents were checked and all legal steps were followed.
Police are still running operations in different areas to find undocumented Afghan nationals. Even families with Afghan registration cards are being moved to camps temporarily so their documents and backgrounds can be checked.
