Overcrowded Hospitals Reflect Failing Health System, Says Mustafa Kamal”

ISLAMABAD (Capital Nama) Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal has said that Pakistan, which is the fifth most populous country in the world, must adopt an effective strategy to reduce its population growth rate. He expressed these views while chairing a high-level meeting of the Ministry of National Health, which was attended by the Federal Secretary Health, Additional Secretary Health, Director General Health and other senior officials.

He said that we need to formulate policies that can help control the growing population, which is putting a lot of pressure on the health system, and discussed the challenges faced in implementing them. He said that the primary objective of the government is to prevent people from getting sick, rather than just treating them. The rush we see in hospitals sometimes looks like a political rally has ended.

He directed the officials to take effective steps to improve the existing health system and the performance of hospitals. It is our responsibility to provide maximum medical facilities within the available resources.
