Pakistan Ready for “Next Level” But No Nuclear Body Meeting Called, Clarifies Defence Minister

No Nuclear Body Meeting Called

Islamabad: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has clarified that while the country is fully prepared for the “next level” amid rising tensions, there is no scheduled meeting of the National Command Authority (NCA), the body responsible for overseeing Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal.

According to international news agency Reuters, Asif denied reports suggesting that a high-level nuclear meeting had been convened following Pakistan’s recent response to Indian actions. He stated that no such session of the NCA is currently planned.

Earlier, in a strongly worded statement, Asif warned that if a nuclear scenario unfolds, it won’t just affect the involved nations — even bystanders could face catastrophic consequences. He stressed that a war between two nuclear-armed states should be a global concern.

Reiterating Pakistan’s readiness, Asif posted a line from renowned poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz on his official X (formerly Twitter) account:
“Jo woh qarz rakhte thay jaan par, woh hisaab aaj chuka diya”
(“The debt they held over our lives — today, we have repaid it in full.”)

His remarks reflect both a show of strength and a call for international awareness regarding the dangers of escalation in South Asia.
