Trishala Dutt, daughter of Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, has sparked conversations on social media with her recent Instagram post about family, respect, and mental peace. In her note, she shared that just being related by blood does not give someone the automatic right to stay in one’s life.
She explained that sometimes the people who drain the most energy or show the least care are the ones called “family.” Trishala stressed that children have every right to step away from parents or relatives who hurt them, ignore their feelings, or make them feel guilty again and again. According to her, peace of mind should always come before protecting the so-called image of a family.

She further added that when parents are more focused on what others think about their family instead of their children’s happiness, it leaves emotional scars. Her message encouraged people not to feel guilty for keeping distance from family members who constantly bring pain, even if those people raised them.
Trishala’s words carry weight because of her personal journey. Born in 1988 to Sanjay Dutt and his first wife, actress Richa Sharma, she lost her mother at a very young age in 1996 due to a brain tumor. Since then, she has lived with her maternal grandparents in the United States. Away from Bollywood’s limelight, she often shares thoughtful and heartfelt messages on social media that connect with many people.
Recently, on her birthday, Sanjay Dutt expressed his love by writing, “Always proud of you, always love you,” in a touching post. After the passing of Richa Sharma, Sanjay Dutt later married Rhea Pillai in 1998, though they divorced in 2008. He is now married to Manyata Dutt, with whom he has twins, Shahran and Aqra.
On the film front, Sanjay Dutt was last seen in Housefull 5. His upcoming films include the Kannada movie KD: The Devil, Telugu films The Raja Saab and Akhanda 2, along with Hindi projects Baaghi 4 and Dhurandhar.
Trishala’s message has gained attention online, with many people resonating with her thoughts on valuing mental peace over toxic family ties.
