New York – A very sad incident happened in Queens, New York, where a 31-year-old woman named Maria Penaloza Cabrera died after getting a cosmetic surgery at home by an untrained person. Maria was from Colombia and had two children.
According to News18, the surgery took place on March 28 at Maria’s house. She wanted to remove some implants. A 38-year-old man named Felipe Hoyos Foronda did the surgery, but he was not a licensed doctor. During the procedure, he used a medicine called Lidocaine the wrong way, which caused Maria to have a heart attack and faint.

She was quickly taken to the hospital. Doctors tried for over two hours to save her, but she was declared brain dead. After being on life support for a few days, she passed away on April 11.
Maria’s sister said she went to the man for surgery after a friend recommended him. The friend had also taken the same treatment and said it went fine.
Police later arrested Felipe at JFK Airport when he was trying to leave for Colombia. He is now facing charges for doing medical work without a license and causing harm. More charges may be added as the investigation continues.
